Neptune, for the rest of this year…
Waxing poetic about the most misunderstood planetary energy in the solar system
I am continuing to be blown away by the presence of this planetary energy that has been bubbling in my chart for some time, but more than that, it has been bubbling in the collective’s chart quite loudly since 2012, when it entered its home sign of Pisces.
Since then, I am sure we have all gotten a shake up. Illusions have been upended, the foundations melted under our feet. Everything blended into one at the end of the day. There was no hope, it felt like, for some time. I can say from my own and many people’s collective experiences were very weighty over this past winter, followed by an alleviation of weight and energy by the end of February into March, when the pace quickened with the Master’s exit from Pisces and final ingress into Aries.
Now that the Saturn influence of heaviness is behind the conjunction, it stands a bit on its own. Not by much…it is very much in orb for another year, but at least with a distinct flavor between the two that does not fit with the heavy times of last winter. BUT, yes, on it’s own.
Neptune moves SUPER DUPER slow, I may add, and not by a lot per year. A degree, maybe two, which to me is always highly significant as the masses on this planet are all feeling this for an entire year, and usually more like a year and a half due to the way Neptune retrogrades and comes back to the same spot.
This year is quite significant as he spans, after cruising master degrees in the 3rd decan of Pisces for the last 8 years or so, only the truly baby degrees of Aries. The first decan of Aries is the spark that creates the fire, the return of the sun to warm the ground to melt the snow. It’s the survival instinct, the part of us that declares that I AM whatever the hell we say we are. It’s I am me. I am here. I want this. I know that. Me me me me me. And it’s perfectly acceptable that energy is within all of us; if not, then we would cease to exist. We fight for a seat at the table. We rise to the occasion. We see what separates us from the rest by knowing what makes us who we are. There is a certain undeniability to Aries; it is a masculine energy of survival and staying power and getting the dragon slayed.
…and here comes the Neptune plunge into the abyss?
Hold onto your hats as Neptune cruises 3 and 4 degrees of Aries this year, only to retrograde back to 1 Aries, the last of which he was partnered with our friend Saturn (who is retrograding back to 8 degrees this winter). This time, Neptune is on it’s own, but like already mentioned, the flavor of the two is still coinjoined in a way that makes me lean towards Neptune’s weight on being so far of a transdimensional planet. Meaning that whatever Saturn has planned, Neptune will undo. Just think of something that you may have been released from in the past year as an example.
The relational aspects of the chart are so amazing during his dance over these degrees as Pluto and Uranus are also connecting in friendly air signs to buoy onto whatever Neptune may have up its sleeve. Transformation and surprising embetterment are on the menu. And in air signs, don’t take it personally whatsoever. Neptune, however, is water. The GOD of water, the ocean, the vast mysteriousness that we don’t think about yet it is so overwhelmingly powerful….it will take it how it wants to.
And in Aries? How can a water planet, the planet of illusion, bring about in Aries?
By bringing in rapid truth through the surrender.
Many astrologers have taken a look back on the Civil War years, to glean some ideas of how it was going to be this time around. Well, since we are officially seeing a Neptune return of that era, it’s awesome to see how an 184 year old cycle plays itself out in a nation and culture. It definitely has a lot to teach us about similar themes that may be presenting. So if we look at it as Neptune is the illusion dispeller, the truth bringer, the maglite on the windshield if you will, then to look at that time frame is astounding.
We brought and refounded the nation on the idea that all men actually are created equal, but we had to dispel the illusion that it was not different, or white people were different/superior in any way….the powers that be were uber rich using massive power (Pluto) to maintain the vision that benefitted the 1% in the South the most, and the regular people were the folks that suffered for nothing. Bought all the rhetoric to fight brother against brother, causing entire families to be completely wiped out by war, death and ensuing poverty on war torn land.
We are dancing on a line no different; it treads the same trough set lastly in 1863, a pretty defining year in the War. BUT: it bears mentioning that these wounds have been addressed and healed because of the actions taken from this time. It’s poignancy is not any different, but the lesson is. Instead of banging rhetoric and fighting, we are trying something more internal. Do you believe in what you believe, or are you allowing yourself to believe in something that you may not actually feel you believe to be true, out of habit, routine? How are you being goaded into belonging to something you might not feel you belong to? Then what do you want, as you have been subconsciously giving your power away here….? How can you take it back to stand in something so strong that it will support you no matter what? (like on little round top in gettysburg?)
With Authenticity being such a buzz word for AI getting sharper I can see where this is coming from. Even if you look at a chart, the sextiles are just pointing to Neptune at 3, just holding space there. I love it and wrestle with it; I want to believe, but then….gah. I have to actually DO it (Aries). Okay, fine….NOW I have to put my weight where my beliefs are, which means I have to do the dirty work of addressing how many false conclusions I had come to over the way.
Note with Neptune it can go both ways. There can be sadness and loss there but there is also acceptance and a deep recognition that it is actually for your best good. How we choose to fight the truth (Aries) is how we are being shown the illusion; it’s all there for you to have back as your sovereign heart. I shared in a previous blog post that I loveLOVE the idea of Neptune having this deep relationship to the Sun physically, holding together the forming solar system through consistent push and pull in the orbit. I loved the idea that not even Jupiter or Saturn could do it; just Neptune. He is the mysterious; his intentions we aren’t meant to understand, unlike Saturn and Jupiter again. His are meant for us to be formed into the perfect shape we are meant to be, doing the perfect orbit around the Sun and making sure we stay in track. That’s a relationship to that energy that I like to take with me.
So now Neptune is in Aries, let’s make it count by letting our actions do the talking for the deepest way we handle our own power in the world. I have to note that again, Aries likes to be independent; these actions for ourselves should not be dependent on someone else’s. This is how we relate to ourselves, not how we desire the world to relate to us. We are the ones who teach others how to be with us. Now is the time to be open and awake to our more ‘me-ness’ in the world, and to not shy away from it either. Again, not to be destructive, or demanding on other’s time and space, but more in how we relate to ourselves in relationship to what we love, that makes us an individual, who we are….that unique snowflake that needs more attention from you than anyone else.
In short, you are creating a new you right now. Don’t let it be co-opted by not recognizing what makes you special. Because there are a million people that are working to tell you that you aren’t. Don’t be one of them too.
